Rob Reiner’s Eldest Daughter Breaks Her Silence After Filmmaker and Wife Are Found Dead

Legendary Hollywood director and actor Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, have died in what authorities are investigating as a homicide, according to multiple major news outlets.

The couple was found dead in their Brentwood, Los Angeles home on Sunday, December 14, 2025, prompting an active police investigation.

Reiner, 78, known for iconic roles such as “Meathead” on All in the Family and for directing beloved films including This Is Spinal Tap, When Harry Met Sally…, Stand by Me and The Princess Bride, was discovered alongside his wife, 68-year-old Michele Singer Reiner.

Law enforcement and fire department officials responded to a medical aid call at the couple’s home Sunday afternoon and found the two deceased.

The Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division is treating the incident as an apparent homicide; reports indicate both suffered wounds consistent with knife trauma.

In the aftermath, sources tell People that Rob and Michele’s son, Nick Reiner, 32, has been taken into custody on suspicion of murder. Authorities have not officially confirmed the motive or all investigative details. Reiner and Singer Reiner had been married since 1989, meeting on the set of When Harry Met Sally decades earlier.

They shared three children — Jake, Nick, and Romy — and the sudden loss has deeply shaken Hollywood. Rob Reiner’s eldest daughter, Tracy Reiner, issued a brief statement through NBC News, saying she was “in shock” and grieving the loss of her family.

As the investigation continues and authorities piece together the full circumstances of the couple’s deaths, family representatives have asked for privacy during this heartbreaking time.
