Mom Breastfeeds 5-Year-Old Daughter

In a society where extended breastfeeding is often met with raised eyebrows, Emma Shardlow Hudson, a 29-year-old mother stands by her decision to breastfeed her 5-year-old daughter, Alex, and 2-year-old son, Ollie.

Emma’s routine includes breastfeeding Alex twice daily, once in the morning before school and again in the evening, while Ollie continues to nurse as well.

Emma firmly believes that the antibodies in her breast milk have significantly contributed to her children’s robust health. “Since I’ve been breastfeeding, neither of my children has fallen seriously ill,” she says. She attributes their strong immune systems to the protective qualities of her milk, which she feels provides more than just nutrition.

Despite societal norms that often view breastfeeding beyond infancy as unconventional, Emma considers it a natural and nurturing choice. “For me, breastfeeding is a selfless act of love and care,” she explains. “It’s about giving my children the best start in life and ensuring their well-being.”

Emma’s approach highlights a growing conversation about the benefits of extended breastfeeding. While some health professionals and parents advocate for it, emphasizing the emotional and health benefits, others remain skeptical. Emma hopes her story will encourage more mothers to follow their instincts and make the best choices for their families without fear of judgment.

Extended breastfeeding remains a personal choice, and for Emma Shardlow Hudson, it’s one she’s confident has positively impacted her children’s lives.
