I was travelling west on I-40 on Wednesday afternoon when my blood sugar dangerously fell.
Fortunately, there was a Burger King nearby at the next exit. I told the operator on the speaker that I was diabetic and in need of food as I fumbled through placing my order.
Low blood sugar impairs one’s ability to think and behave. To pay for my food, I pulled up to the first window. Tina Hardy, a Burger King employee, startled me by sprinting towards the front of my car.
She brought me a little serve of ice cream, even squeezing herself between the front of my car and the building.
Afterwards, Tina revealed that she could tell I needed assistance because her spouse had diabetes as well. I pulled up to Tina’s window and she gave me my lunch once I paid.
I followed her instructions to park across the driveway so she could watch over me until I recovered.
I waited for a gap in activity after my meal so that I could return to Tina’s window. I spoke with Tina’s supervisor after shooting this picture and gave him my sincere gratitude for everything.
Tina Hardy, a longtime Burger King employee, deserves a lot more recognition from the general public and upper management.
At a time when the news focuses on all the bad things happening in the world, it’s amazing to see such a nice gesture between two people.
