Age gracefully, that’s what we’ve been hearing a lot on the internet. But so few found it in themselves to feel as confident as they did in their 20s once they hit 70. And Rosa Saito’s look and story might just change your mind!
We love seeing individuals shining as they break out from the shell that is this world’s unrealistic standard. Beauty was and should never be restricted by age. Her story is proof of that.
It’s common to see supermodels like Naomi Campbell, Rachel Hunter, etc., step away from the limelight as they age.
To be fair, as they gradually move into the background, newer models begin to shine in their stead. They are forefront role models, literally, to young buds who dream to dream big. But this creates an invisible age barrier where the more wrinkles you have, the less likely you get hired.
But not the beautiful legend Rosa Saito. She continues to shine the older she gets. The talented artist, in fact, began modeling when she was 68!
Real name Setsuka Saito, the 168m model takes very well-care of her skin and figure, if you can’t already tell! She was very new to the industry, but Saito was a dedicated learner with an adventurous soul.
Enough to get her a chance to walk at São Paulo Fashion Week.
She’s also appeared in Brasil Eco Fashion Week.
She’s always loved everything art-related; her heart was always in the colors and imaginative world.
Saito was born in Araçatuba, São Paulo and developed a love for singing and writing since she was a child. She shared, “I always knew I was going to pursue something creative, something I could invent. Everything I do I take to that side.”
She’s gone through many things in her life. At 22, she had to be the caretaker to her bedridden mother. In 2000, at around 48, she lost her husband and became a single mother of three.
She took up gardening, and caring for plants helped her go through the stress in her life. The lovely lady said, “It is important to seek and find yourself. And my moment of peace is with them (plants). I go to my garden and talk to them.”
Modeling wasn’t something she’d agreed upon immediately, however.
Saito shared that she was approached three times by professionals and a photographer. But she wanted to tread carefully.
“Twice it was by professionals from the Mega modeling agency and once by a photographer. I let the idea mature for a year, after all, it had costs too, it wasn’t something I was going to get into just like that, blindly. Until I decided to take the risk.”
