We are passing along the news of the passing of Frankie Lons, who was the biological mother of R&B singer Keyshia Cole. It is with a great deal of regret that we do so. After enduring a relapse on the occasion of her 61st birthday celebrations at her home in Oakland, California, Frankie was unable to continue her fight against addiction and ultimately succumbed to it.
Sources claim that Frankie had been diligently working towards sobriety and had reached the significant milestone of sixty days sober in March of 2020. This was an important milestone. On the other hand, overcoming addiction is a challenging and never-ending battle, and Frankie was unable to do so despite his best efforts.
Keyshia has not yet released a statement to the public regarding the death of her mother; therefore, we ask that you respect her privacy during this challenging time.
In the past, Keyshia has not been bashful about discussing her mother Frankie’s battle with addiction. Instead, she has expressed her anguish and distress whenever Frankie has relapsed. It is never easy to watch a loved one struggle with addiction, and we hope that those of you who may be going through something similar are able to find the strength to cope with what you are going through.
Frankie made an appearance in the mini-series “Keyshia Cole: My New Life” that was hosted by Keyshia, during which the two of them had many in-depth conversations, including one on the subject of passing away.
Frankie will always have a very special place in Keyshia’s heart, despite the fact that she was adopted by Leon and Yvonne Cole when she was just two years old. During this challenging time, Keyshia and her family are in our prayers and thoughts. Please accept our condolences.
