The Set It Up actor shared a series of pictures of him and his sister Casey with the adorable pet, showing them cuddling him and showering him with affection. There was also a snap of Davidson donning a face mask and holding Henry up to the camera, with the pooch sporting a shirt that reads “Good Dog”.
“Yesterday we lost a key member of the Davidson family,” the heartbreaking message read. “Henry was only 2 years old but unfortunately got very sick very fast.
Davidson recalled his precious bond with Henry and described him as “the was the happiest and sweetest dog ever,” explaining: “He used to get excited when he saw me and would pee everywhere.”
“When I was working at SNL my mom would send me videos of him watching, smiling, and making noise when I came on screen,” he added.
“He was truly the best,” he went on. “My mom, sister, and I are broken and will miss him forever. We love you, Henry. Thank you for making our lives fuller and reminding me what actually matters.”
The star’s post has been flooded with messages of support from people who know the pain of losing a pet. One user wrote: “Exactly EXACTLY feel your pain. My love Larry passed suddenly in August & we are STILL DEVASTATED. Maybe Henry is playing with LARRY.”
A third shared: “I’m so sorry. We had a Bichonpoo that saved us during COVID in sort of the same fashion. I feel for you and I’m so very devastated for you.”
Davidson previously spoke about his dear puppies on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon In November 2021. He told the host: “I got three dogs during the pandemic because it was hard.”
The star’s heartbreaking statement comes days after his return to SNL was canceled due to the Writer’s Guild of America strike. He was set to make his hosting debut while rapper Lil Uzi Vert was scheduled as the musical guest.
