With the arrival of their fraternal twin sons, Sullivan and Darby, on February 1, 2007, Patrick Dempsey, 58, and Jillian Fink, 58, joined the family of five. Talula was born in 2002.
The Grey’s Anatomy star admits that when he and Fink found out they were expecting two more kids, they “were a little overwhelmed.”
The celebrity, who was voted People’s “Most Sexiest Man Alive” in 2023, stated, “I think we’re done now.”
Darby, the more “reserved and quiet” of the two, has been clearly distinct from his brother since infancy and has a middle name with his well-known father.
Although they both had their father’s well-known hair, Sullivan had “Sid Vicious black, punk-rock hair,” while Darby had blonde hair.
The Disenchanted actress remarked, “Sullivan is very funny; he has funny expressions in the way he’s taking things in.”
similar to “drunk little men”
The endearing father teased that the infants entertained him as they grew into toddlers.
He remarked, “It’s like a slapstick routine watching these drunk little men run around because they’re wobbly,” referring to the time when they were still learning to walk. It’s quite touching to witness something happen that they were unable to accomplish the day before.
Even though Talula, 22, is her father’s little girl, the star of Can’t Buy Me Love claims the boys make him much more active.
“Obviously, boys and girls are very different from one another, but they also have a lot more physical activity! Dempsey said on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that “you cannot turn your back [because] there’s always an injury, there’s always something going on” (via People).
“Sports for families”
The racecar fan was thrilled to welcome two new boys into his family and couldn’t wait to take them for a ride around the track. He claims that racing is “such a family sport.”
I believe it transports me back to that time in my early years. I’ve simply always been a vehicle and racing fan. In 2014, Dempsey told AP, “My father was a huge fan of it. I used to collect Matchbox cars and on a Friday night, my dad would always bring one home.” The professional race car driver at the time of the Le Mans 24 Hours finished fifth in his class.
“I don’t mind being an actor. I’d like to take on some challenges in my acting career, but so far I haven’t found any roles that truly justify me skipping a racing season to pursue them.
till he discovered that part.
a family matter
Unsurprisingly, the family made their first public appearance together over 17 years later, at the red carpet premiere of Dempsey’s 2023 film Ferrari, in which he played Italian Formula One driver Piero Taruffi.
Fink wore a body-hugging, shimmering gold gown, while Dempsey looked smart in a black suit with a gray shirt and matching tie.
Talulah was spotted holding her father’s arm while the group posed for pictures. She was wearing a stylish black dress.
Additionally, Darby and Sullivan showed up in all black.
The boys’ size startled many on the internet. On their birthdays, the boys’ parents frequently post adorable old pictures of them, and many admirers were surprised to learn that Sullivan and Darby had developed into attractive young men.
“Someone got dad’s famous hair,” an admirer of the two teenagers writes.
“Oh my, they’ve grown, as kids do.” Another comments, “The kids have grown up, time flies that’s for sure,” and a third says, “They seemed so much smaller last time.”
A different internet user says, “I had no idea he had twins. Wow, there are two more of him.
As teenagers, Dempsey says, it’s easier to see how different they were as babies.
Darby plays soccer for a team that his father coaches, and Sullivan has shown interest in acting.
“I believe you support your children in whatever their interest is. Dempsey said, “You give them the chance to try what they want to try.”
