The Ugly Duckling was never actually ugly – he was simply different from his peers and learned that he, too, was beautiful. Nick Vujicic was born to the world like an ugly duckling – he was faced with physical challenges, namely tetra-amelia syndrome. But nothing stopped him from finding his true love.
In short, he was born without any limbs, a rare disorder that often sees babies stillborn or die shortly after birth. Nick survived, but his parents refused to take him in after he was born.
He was born with some fused toes that were later operated on so he can use them as fingers. The 39-year-old Serbian motivational speaker funnily called them his “chicken drumstick.”
Nick’s life was just one challenge after another. He later became the first disabled person to attend a regular school in Australia and was often treated differently by others. He would quote the words his dad used in his future speeches, “You are a gift, just differently packaged.”
She then met Kanae in 2010 and it was love at first sight for him. At the time, Kanae was in a relationship, but she could feel something stirring in her.
It was at an event in Dallas where Nick was a guest speaker when they met. Kanae was immediately attracted to the man who checked all the qualities she was looking for in a man. Nick made his move immediately and texted a mutual friend so they could meet up.
Soon enough, they were making long phone calls and dating, until a year later on August 1, 2011, when Nick proposed to Kanae on a yacht in Santa Barbara. He announced the engagement on social media and showed how he put a ring on it with his mouth.
They made things official on February 12, 2012. The lovebirds have since been seen together all the time.
They are now a happy family of six and have two sons and two daughters.
The family-oriented man wouldn’t stop gushing over his children and wife and expresses how much he misses his family when he travels to conferences alone.
His wife is also just as lovely as she once shared, “Everything a mom could ask for has already been given to her. I love that I can say with confidence that my kids adore me and I simply couldn’t love them more.”
The family has been going solid now and wishes to share that true love does exist.
Now they just can’t stop sharing cute things they do every day. Kanae wrote before, “Just popping in to brag about my husband. He has so much on his plate, yet he gets me flowers first thing in the morning to say, ’Happy Anniversary, my love!’ I love him. We started the year with a wind whirl, we have seen loved ones go to heaven, and we have also welcomed new lives into this world. Ups and downs, but together through it all.”
