Fans of the iconic series Martin are mourning the passing of another one of its cast members. Sean Lampkin played Nipsey in the series. A close friend of lead actor Martin Lawrence, Lampkin also featured in Bad Boys, Big Momma’s House, and Life.
He played the owner of the bar Martin and his friends frequented in the series called The Nipsey from seasons three through five.
Sean Lampkin was only 54 years old. He reportedly passed in his sleep. His friend, Marsel Watts, took to Facebook with the announcement on March 8th. “My friend, my last roommate for ten years, a father and family man, my brother, skate buddy, business partner, and trainer passed away this morning. RIP Sean Lampkin,” Watts wrote.
News of his death is now starting to circulate as fans of the show are starting to hear about it. Watts spoke highly of his friend in his memorial post, revealing that Lampkin was a black belt in karate and often served as Martin’s “right-hand man.”
“No Martin without Sean,” he said. Marsel said that Sean and Martin used to often ride around together. Lampkin was also Martin’s assistant, as confirmed on IMDB.
Tisha Campbell was one of the first to react to Sean’s passing. In a comment under a post from a Martin Show fan page, she left several prayer emojis and a crying face. Comedian Guy Torry also took to social media to pay his respects to Sean. Torry was a writer on Martin and said, “my man Sean Lampkin has been called home. What an underrated funny and GOOD dude.”
Lampkin is the second major Martin cast member to pass after Thomas Mikal Ford in 2016. The cast did a reunion special recently where they paid tribute to Ford. Martin has yet to post about Sean’s passing. He did share a picture of them together in 2021, saying, “Lifting each other up since day 1 #teammartymar #fbf #squad.”
