The longtime friend and personal assistant to Floyd Mayweather, Marikit “Kitchie” Laurico, has passed away suddenly.
The 49-year-old played a pivotal role in Mayweather’s day-to-day life for about ten years. The two were often photographed together on grand trips around the world and many other star-studded events. While not many details have been released surrounding her death, several outlets have reported that she began feeling ill after returning from a recent trip to Dubai. On March 21st, Laurico shared a photo on Instagram from the popular travel destination, appearing healthy and in good spirits. It’s unclear if a medical emergency of some kind occurred during the trip, but on Friday, it was reported that she’d died.
Tributes poured in on social media after news of her death was revealed. Fans and friends lent their condolences to the woman who was adored for her professionalism and business-savvy mindset that helped Mayweather construct his empire. Jamie Tyler, star of “Love & Marriage D.C.,” shared a heartfelt tweet, posting several memories with Laurico. Showtime Sports President Stephen Espinoza described her as being “always kind,” adding that her “absence will be felt by many.”
There have been some reports that she suffered a heart attack, though her family has not confirmed this. Floyd Mayweather has not publicly commented on Laurico’s untimely passing.
Let’s continue to keep Kitchie’s loved ones in our thoughts and prayers.
