One of the most powerful and richest men in the world, Jeff Bezos, is giddy as a kid these days as he’s just gotten engaged to the love of his life. After seeing his marriage of 25 years crumble, the Amazon founder dusted himself off and gave love a second chance with Lauren Sánchez. Lucky for him, she seems to be the safest investment in his life so far. Let’s learn more about the woman that healed Bezos’ heart.
Jeff’s first marriage seemed like it would be his endgame.
In 1992, before Amazon didn’t even exist, Bezos met MacKenzie Tuttle, who he married a year later. Jeff and MacKenzie had four children together: three boys and a girl adopted from China. And, of course, the two were married when Bezos came up with an idea for what will later become one of the largest and most successful marketplaces in the world.
As Jeff’s billions grew, his years with Tuttle were running out. In 2019, the couple announced that they were getting a divorce after 25 years of marriage. They wrote in a statement: “We feel incredibly lucky to have found each other and deeply grateful for every one of the years we have been married to each other. If we had known we would separate after 25 years, we would do it all again.”
His true love was just around the corner.
In early 2019, before Bezos announced the end of his marriage, he was spotted with an entertainment reporter Lauren Sánchez, 53. The two met a few years earlier and, allegedly, got friendly. Most reports suggest that Jeff and Lauren became an item before he officially separated from his wife.
What followed was years of countless dates and public events together. Jeff was seemingly overwhelmed with happiness as Lauren brought a new spark into his life. She often expresses her love and support for him on social media.
As she wrote as a tribute on his birthday: “If I had one wish for you on this 58th time around the sun, it would be that the world will see you through my eyes. Yes everyone knows you are brilliant, but they don’t always see your heart the way my eyes do… I wake up every day excited to love you.”
In early 2023, Sánchez gave everyone a glimpse into what it’s like dating one of the richest men in the world. She said: “We love to be together, and we love to work together. We fly together. We work out together. We’re together all the time.”
Lauren also added that there’s a side to Jeff no one else knows: “He makes me laugh all the time. He can be goofy.”
The couple has finally made it official.
In late May 2023, Bezos took a leap of faith and proposed to Sánchez after over 4 years of dating. Lauren of course accepted his proposal, as it’s now clear to all, not just them, that they’re soulmates. According to a source: “They’re on cloud nine — so happy and madly in love.”
And just like that, Bezos and Sánchez are coming together as a big and happy family. In addition to Jeff’s four children, Lauren is bringing her three kids as well: two sons and a daughter.
Seems like 2023 is turning all billionaires into family man. Earlier this year, the Facebook creator, Mark Zuckerberg, welcomed his third daughter with wife Priscilla Chan.
