Janet Jackson became a mom at 50, and she never looked back. Today, 6 years after being blessed in the most wonderful way, the legendary singer is emotionally reflecting on what it’s like for her to be a single mom.

It was an absolute miracle for Janet Jackson to become pregnant at 50. For many women at that age, giving birth is out of the question, but the famous singer took that leap of faith, and it paid off. At the time, she had been married to Wissam Al Mana for 5 years. Jackson shared her pregnancy by saying: “We thank God for our blessing.”

The couple was overjoyed to welcome their son, Eissa, but, unfortunately, he wasn’t enough to keep the marriage going. Janet and Wissam got divorced later in 2017, the same year their son was born. And thus Janet embarked on a journey as a single mom.
She’s been rocking the single-parent role.

Raising Eissa became a number one priority for Janet. She’d decided that music could wait. After all, she’d spent 50 years giving her all to her career, but now it was her turn to focus on her newborn son. Jackson took her mama role very seriously and decided she didn’t need any help.
Janet said: “I don’t have a nanny. I do it all myself. If my mother did it with 9 children, there’s no reason I can’t. Of course, when I’m working, someone watches him, but it’s my baby and me. It’s not easy at times, but my life has changed. Obviously, my baby comes first.”

Today, it’s been 6 years of pure happiness for Jackson, but she’s decided it’s time for her to return to music. During a recent interview detailing her upcoming Together Again tour, she still couldn’t help herself and opened up about her miracle boy, which is something we almost never see her do. She said that despite going back to performing being a mama brings her the most gratification in life.
She continued reflecting on motherhood until she lost herself in memories and could barely fight tears in the middle of the interview: “When you’re tired. When you need a break. I love it all… I’m sorry I’m getting emotional because I’m thinking of one thing in particular, and I’ll never forget it. It was just so beautiful, and I just thought, that’s my baby… That’s the highest for me. Being a mama.”
We’re looking forward to new music from Janet Jackson and, hopefully, more insight into her life as a mom to beautiful Eissa.
