Nancy Pelosi was taken to the hospital after falling on a business trip to Luxembourg.
The official, who is 84 years old, was in Europe with a group of lawmakers to mark the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge, which happened during World War II. Ian Krager, Pelosi’s spokesman, said that she can’t go to the other events planned for her trip because of her illness.
The exact nature of Pelosi’s injury has not been made public, but people who know about the situation say she tripped and fell while at an event with other Congress members. According to a different report, she hurt her hip. Both people asked to remain anonymous because they weren’t allowed to talk about what happened in public.
Krager also said that Pelosi is looking forward to getting back to the US fast. On social media, Representative Michael McCaul, a Republican from Texas and member of the congressional group, wished Pelosi a speedy recovery.
He wrote that he was “praying for a speedy recovery” for Pelosi and that he knew how much she was looking forward to the trip to honor veterans. He also told her that he believed in her strength and that she would be back on her feet soon.
Pelosi has stayed busy in Congress even though she stopped being leader two years ago. She works with Democrats in public and private settings and goes to formal events. Her coworkers are very supportive and want her to get better quickly after her recent accident.
