Aoki Lee Simmons calls out Vogue Magazine for not including her mom, Kimora Lee Simmons, on the cover, which celebrated late designer Karl Lagerfeld.
Last week, Vogue posted its May 2023 edition of its magazine, in which they declare a tribute to Karl Lagerfeld and showcase the models he held in high regard. Vogue conducted a photo shoot at Paris’ Grand Palais and requested ten designers who were influenced by Karl Lagerfeld’s revolutionary work to reimagine it.
These designs were displayed on ten of Lagerfeld’s favorite models including: Anok Yai, Shalom Harlow, Kendall Jenner, Liu Wen, Adut Akech, Natalia Vodianova, Naomi Campbell, Amber Valletta, Gigi Hadid, and Devon Aoki.
However, the shoot did not feature Kimora Lee Simmons and her daughter did not take it lightly. After learning about the cover, Aoki took to social media to express her grievances.
“Let us not forget the youngest Chanel bride, Karl muse and his “face of the 21st century” at age 13, straight from the suburbs of St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of a single mother and first gen immigrant, the maker of the wayyy♥️✨ @kimoraleesimmons I’m always so proud of you mom,” she wrote.
