Actor Clifton Powell revealed that his son is dating Sasha Obama, the daughter of former President Barak Obama on the Dear Fathers podcast. Clifton has appeared in more than 100 films, he started his career in the 1980s and he appeared as the main antagonist in the first time opera, Saint and sinners in 2016.
He married his long-time girlfriend Kimberly and they have two children – a son named Clifton Powell Jr and a daughter named Maya.
The actor recently opened up about his son, Clifton Powell Jr.’s relationship with Sasha Obama, he stated that they both are in a relationship for nearly a year. He said, “It’s amazing because they are in a relationship for a year and it hit the press just now.” Based on Hot 97 report, they both become an official couple in August 2021 when Sasha moved to L.A. after transferring from the University of Michigan to USC. And as for Powell Jr., he had earned a basket scholarship for four years to play for the University of California Santa Barbara.
Now, he is pursuing a film career and he is also working as a commercial director. Clifton Powell sr. states that he often advises his son to treat his girlfriend with care. He says,” I text him often and say “treat Sasha like how you would treat your daughter.” However, Michelle Obama, the first lady of the United States seems to be shocked over the dating lives of her daughters. On The Ellen Degeneres Show, she admits that both her daughters are in a relationship.
She said, “My daughter loved the Jonas brothers and now they are bringing grown men home. It was just pop bands in the beginning. Now they are after real lives stuff and they have boyfriends.” Their other daughter, Malia is allegedly seeing a British man, Rory Farquharson she met at Harvard in 2017.
