A mom based in Blackpool shared that a heartbreak after divorcing her husband of 18 years had her finally attempting to change her life with a dose of self-care. She showed how hitting the gym regularly for the past two years had changed her appearance.
So far, life has been amazing with Emma saying she’s received a lot of attention, including from someone who said they were from Love Island.
The welfare case worker shared, “I’m so happy now that I’ve totally turned my life around. I feel amazing and it’s like the beauty comes from within. It’s like walking on air.”
“Before I’d always just worked hard and cared for everyone else. But, one day after we separated, I realised it was my turn.”
“I looked old empty and drained, but now I’m living my best life. I’m happy and I look completely different.”
Emma got married in 2000 at the age of 22 and thought she’d be “married for life” to the same guy. She became more to her girls and felt like “I’d got it all sorted.”
But things didn’t go smoothly as things began to look down a few years before they got divorced. Her husband moved out in January 2021 and by October, they were officially divorced with Emma feeling “broke” since the day he left.
She recalled, “I felt worthless – I was having panic attacks. I had no confidence in myself and was so isolated. I was just existing, working to pay the bills and just getting through.”
She added, “One day I woke up and thought, ‘You come from a family of strong women, you are free and you can make a difference in your life.’ I realised I can be so much more. It was like a force from somebody watching over me.”
But as time went by, Emma began to find the strength to pick herself up again. She gave credit to Katy Perry’s song, “Roar,” and began by overhauling her wardrobe. Now her wardrobe is full of colors with cute skirts, and stylish coats.
She recalled finally putting on bright red lipstick for the first time and finding the power in herself to cut down her smoking habit from 20 to just four a day. She looked for part-time jobs to help make ends meet and landed an extra job at a cocktail bar for two nights a week.
One of her biggest positive lifestyle changes was hitting the gym with weightlifting and cardio five times a week. She paired it up with healthier eating habits and added more homemade pasta instead of chips and bacon sandwiches.
“Everything about me is completely different now,” she spoke confidently. “People say I look incredible compared to before, and I think it’s because I’m so happy inside.”
“The oddest thing is that I really believed I was happy when we were married. I realise now I was emotionally detached then because I was so worried about looking after everyone. Now I just smile all the time. And this is just the beginning.”
She’s also signed up for Tinder recently and is looking for a new partner and recalled one of her experiences, “It was funny to get hit on by that Love Island guy. I didn’t recognise him at first but I thought, ‘My type on paper.’”
“I worked it out when we talked over Snapchat and I saw videos of him. He was messaging saying how pretty I was and that I don’t look like 42. It was very flattering, and a shock, and quite funny.”
