Social media users have slammed Former Vice President Kamala Harris after she gave a speech to the cast and crew of the Broadway show “A Wonderful World: The Louis Armstrong Musical.”
In videos uploaded to social media sites, such as X, Harris can be seen giving a speech to the cast of the Broadway musical.
However, many conservative users have joked that Harris didn’t make any sense during her speech.
Some have even coined it a “word salad” speech.
As seen in a clip shared on X, Harris told the cast, “When we think about these moments where we see things that are being taken, but also let’s see it, you know, nature abhors a vacuum.”
She then added, “Where there’s a vacancy, let’s fill it.
Let us know that the reality is that the progress of our nation has been about the expansion of rights, not the restriction of rights.
We’re seeing a U-turn right now.
For those rights to be maintained, which means we have to be vigilant.
It’s just the nature of it.”
Later, Harris said, “We have to be clear-eyed.
And it doesn’t mean we don’t see the beauty in everything.
These things all co-exist, but I believe we fight for something, not against something.”
Many social media users — particularly those who consider themselves conservative and voted for President Donald Trump, rather than Harris, in the 2024 presidential election — mocked Harris online for her speech.

One user commented, “Kamala Harris hit Broadway and, of course, served up her signature word salad.
A friendly reminder of what we dodged in the White House.”
Another insinuated that the former Vice President was drunk, posting, “Drunk auntie and her entourage of people that get paid to go ‘Mmmm.’”
The New York Post reported about Harris’ visit to New York City.
While in the Big Apple, Harris went to see two Broadway productions with her husband, Doug Emhoff.
Other than “A Wonderful World,” Harris also saw “Gypsy.”
Cast Members Share Their Experience With Harris
Some cast members of “A Wonderful World” took to social media to discuss their own experience meeting with Harris.
Wes Barnes, a cast member in the Broadway musical, explained how generous the former Vice President was with everyone after the show.
“Not only did she take the time to inspire us and speak life into us, but she was so gracious with her time as well,” Barnes stated.
“All I wanted was a photo.
Not only did I get my photo…
I got all of this.
There is still hope.
There’s still work to be done.
We can’t give up, or in.”
Harris’ Other “Word Salad” Speeches
Harris has long been criticized by conservatives for her speeches.
Many have claimed that she often rambles in these moments — and often, that it seems as if she doesn’t know what she’s talking about.
Many criticized Harris while she was in office.
However, even now that she’s no longer Vice President, many on social media have called out her speeches.
For example, she recently spoke to Los Angeles firefighters during the devastating fires that rocked the LA community in January.
She said, “As I said to these courageous and extraordinary firefighters, you know moments of crisis really do reveal the heroes among us.
We went and visited World Central Kitchen.
I mean, the volunteers who were there, some of them who lost their own homes, are there doing the work of taking care of perfect strangers, who, in the face of that stranger, they see a neighbor.”
Many conservative critics of Harris quickly called out the former Vice President for this so-called “word salad.”
Meanwhile, last year Harris was called out by conservative circles for her response to a question about why Trump frequently goes after cities that have large populations of African Americans.
Harris responded to this question by saying, “I talked with somebody once who said, ‘’You know, if you just look at where the stars are in the sky, don’t look at ’em as just random things.
If you just look at ’em as points, look at the constellation — what does it show you?’”
Harris continued, stating that Trump was only going after these cities because of their Black populations.
“You just outlined it Roland, what does it show you?” Harris asked interviewer Roland Martin.
“That the cities that he picks on in terms of black population or black mayor or both.
C’mon.”
However, in some instances, these conservative jokes have turned into a movement for liberals.
Perhaps most notoriously, Harris’ comments on falling out of a coconut tree — a widely mocked moment by conservatives — ended up becoming a huge liberal rallying cry on social media. On TikTok, young liberals made a whole movement for Harris by using this speech.
Harris’ Future
Since losing the 2024 presidential election to Trump, Harris hasn’t commented on what her future holds.
Many people believe that she may run again for president in the next race — though some liberals don’t want to see this happen.
Others believe that she may try to become California’s governor, a position that is currently held by Gavin Newsom.
Newsom cannot run again.
If Harris truly decides to seek this position, she could become the governor in 2026.
However, so far, Harris has dogged all questions about what her future may hold.
The only time Harris did speak on what she could do in the next few years was when she was leaving the office of the Vice President.
She promised her supporters that she would not “go quietly into the night.”
Harris to Receive Major Award
While we may not know too much about what Harris’ future in politics looks like, we do at least know some of the upcoming events that she’ll attend.
Recently, the NAACP revealed that Harris would receive the organization’s Chairman’s Award during their upcoming Image Awards ceremony this month.
Former President Barack Obama, as well as Representative John Lewis, were two previous winners of this prestigious award.
In a statement explaining this decision, NAACP’s chair of the national board of directors, Leon W. Russell, said, “Vice President Kamala Harris is more than a leader — she is a force of change, driven by an unwavering passion to shape a brighter, more equitable future.
It is with great honor that we present her with the Chairman’s Award at this year’s NAACP Image Awards, celebrating her relentless dedication to justice, equality, and the betterment of our society.”
Will Harris Truly Run for California Governor?
Though Harris has chosen to stay mum on what her political future holds, both conservatives and liberals alike seem to think that she’ll run for California governor.
After all, her political ally Newsom cannot run again.
Many Democrats in California would like to see Harris become governor after Newsom.
According to a new poll conducted by Emerson College, Harris is the favorite to run for governor in 2026.
The poll found that about 57% of registered Democrats in California would support the former Vice President if she decided to run to be the governor of the Golden State.
Harris has long ties to California.
She was born in Berkeley and spent much of her youth in the Bay Area.
She’s spent much — if not all — of her life in the Golden State.
Many throughout the state admire and support Harris, especially as she was California’s 32nd attorney general, as well as a senator from the Golden State for multiple years.
She has long been in the public spotlight in her home state.
As a result, she has a huge amount of support throughout.
If Harris indeed decides to make this move with her career, she could remain in the public limelight for the next few years.
Then, once her term as governor is over, she could choose to run again — or, possibly, to try to run for president once more in the futureOf course, if she does run for California governor, she would continue to be fodder for conservative social media users who love to call her out.
Having a public role, such as governor, would allow conservative influencers to continue to try to attack her for her policies, which they see as too progressive.
Trump, who has long been a critic of Harris, doesn’t need the former Vice President in any public office to criticize her.
To this day, he’ll attack her if he likes — though he often insults former President Joe Biden more than he does her.
Of course, if she does become governor, then there’s a very high chance that the president will increase his attacks on her, similarly to how he often attacks Newsom.
Many people don’t believe that Harris will run for governor of California, especially as many believe the position is a thankless job.
As a result, many of her supporters would like to see her run for president once again in 2028.
This could end up being a bit of an issue for the Democrats, especially as current California Governor Gavin Newsom is also considered a huge contender for president in 2028.
As Harris hasn’t yet spoken about what she has planned for her future, there’s no telling what could happen.
