Donald Trump’s Birthday to be a Federal Holiday Soon?

Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (NY – 24) has introduced a bill seeking Republican President Donald J. Trump’s birthday, June 14 (which coincides with Flag Day) to be declared a federal holiday.

The bill is listed as H.R. 1395 on the official US Congress website.

If passed, the ‘Trump’s Birthday and Flag Day Holiday Establishment Act’ would officially designate June 14 as a federal holiday to commemorate President Donald J. Trump’s Birthday and Flag Day.

June 14 which is the President’s coincides with Flag Day, which is observed annually and recognizes the anniversary of the adoption of the Stars and Stripes as the official US flag on June 14, 1777. The legislation would permanently codify a new federal holiday called “Trump’s Birthday and Flag Day” on June 14.

Introducing the bill, she said in a news release“No modern president has been more pivotal for our country than Donald J. Trump. As both our 45th and 47th President, he is the most consequential President in modern American history, leading our country at a time of great international and domestic turmoil.”

Elaborating she said that right from his role in brokering the Abraham Accords to “championing the largest tax relief package in American history”, Trump has played a significant part in reshaping America’s history and deserves to be recognized as the “founder of America’s Golden Age”.

She goes on to draw a comparison between the Founding Father and 1st United States President George Washington and Trump, stating, “Just as George Washington’s Birthday is codified as a federal holiday, this bill will add Trump’s Birthday to this list…”

George Washington is the only US President to have his birthday celebrated as a federal holiday, commonly referred to as Presidents Day.

Referring to the US’ oncoming 250th anniversary, and the lack of a federal holiday to honor the American flag, she expressed the need to create a new federal holiday honoring the American Flag and all that it represents.

“By designating Trump’s Birthday and Flag Day as a federal holiday, we can ensure President Trump’s contributions to American greatness and the importance of the American Flag are forever enshrined into law,”Tenney said.

Currently, Pennsylvania is the only state that recognizes Flag Day as a legal holiday.

Tenney has been one of Trump’s top allies since 2018, and with Trump campaigning for Tenney’s re-election in 2018.

She follows on Trump’s footsteps on the main talking points such as immigration and jobs. However, on the tariff issue, back in 2018 when Trump slapped steep tariffs on steel and aluminum imports, she reportedly admitted to having “mixed emotions” about the proposal, pointing out that she considers herself a free-trade Republican.

However, she was not a vocal critic of the tariff plan and did not sign on to a Republican-led letter urging Trump to abandon the idea.
