That’s why nobody watches CNN anymore.
Because they have no credibility,” Trump said, linking former President Joe Biden to CNN.
Rather interestingly, Trump’s attack on Collins didn’t go unnoticed — even by her fellow colleagues and veteran journalists in the room.
After he insulted her, many chuckles were heard.

After Collins asked this question, Trump also took the time to go after the former president for the war between Russia and Ukraine in the first place.
“This should have been done by Biden years ago. This should have never been allowed to happen,” Trump claimed.
Trump and Kaitlan Collins’ History
During Trump’s first term, Collins also seemed to get under Trump’s skin, thanks to her pointed questions.
As Trump has long had it out for CNN, he’s also had some little battles with Collins, as a result.
Now that the president is back in the White House for his second term, it appears his sparring with Collins has picked up right where they left off.
In fact, this isn’t the first time that Trump has slammed Collins this year — and the president has only been in office for about a month.
Last month, the two got into it after the DC plane crash.
Trump was answering questions from reporters about this tragedy when Collins had a chance to inquire about previous statements he had made.
Rather quickly after the helicopter had reportedly crashed into a commercial jet mid-air, Trump had insinuated that DEI hiring practices were to blame.

Collins asked him about these controversial statements.
“Does it comfort [the victims’] family to hear you blaming DEI policies?” Collins asked the president.
Trump apparently didn’t like this question — at all.
“I think that’s not a very smart question,” he responded.
He then added, “I’m surprised, coming from you.”
Trump and Collins Spar Over Tariffs
Another showdown between President Trump and CNN’s Kaitlan Collins occurred in the Oval Office when Trump was signing orders to have reciprocal tariffs.
This also occurred on the same day Trump slammed Collins and CNN.
These tariffs, according to Trump, will ensure the U.S. tariffs match the rates seen in other countries.
Right after signing these documents, Collins asked if these tariffs would make the costs of goods rise for regular Americans.
Many economists have stated that the tariffs Trump wants to put in place — particularly these reciprocal tariffs — will cause prices to go up for American households.
Even regular items in grocery stores could rise in price, thanks to these tariffs.
In previous interviews, Trump himself has even stated this will happen.
However, the president has also claimed that Americans will have to only go through this hardship for a short time.
In the Oval Office, Collins shot out, “Mr. President, you won the White House in part because of high inflation, if your tariffs make prices go up…”
Trump then quickly cut her off, saying, “Excuse me.
We haven’t asked you to speak yet, please.”
Trump did, in fact, run on the economy.
Throughout the 2024 presidential campaign, Trump repeatedly attacked former President Biden’s administration, blaming them for why grocery prices were so high.
Many analysts have since come out to state that Trump only beat former Vice President Kamala Harris in the presidential race because of the economy.
Now, some economists have claimed that these tariffs could only make the American economy worse.
Once Trump was ready to take questions in this latest showdown with Collins, he answered a few reporters’ questions before she got her chance to ask, “So Americans should prepare for some short-term pain?”
Though Trump had said this before, he didn’t agree with Collins’ take.
“No, you said that.
I didn’t say that,” Trump said.
“We’ll see what happens.
Nobody really knows what is going to happen.”
MAGA Goes After Collins on X
Since these last few battles with Trump, Collins has been trending quite a bit on social media — and especially on X, formerly known as Twitter.
MAGA has had many reasons to go after Collins, now that Trump is back in the White House.
However, most recently, social media users loyal to Trump have mocked the CNN reporter for her take on Trump’s mugshot.
Recently, Collins spoke about the interesting fact that Trump has hung up his mugshot in the Oval Office.
“Not only have we never had a US president with a mugshot — I’m not sure we’ve ever had a mugshot hanging outside of the Oval Office before,” she said.
This comment about Trump’s mugshot — as well as her sparring with the president on multiple issues in recent weeks — has caused MAGA to attack the reporter online.
On X, many began to insinuate that she was the “female Jim Acosta.”
Acosta also notoriously had a difficult relationship with Trump during the president’s first term.
Acosta, who was then a White House correspondent, often questioned Trump in ways that the president didn’t like.
Trump repeatedly went after the reporter — and even tried to revoke his press pass in retaliation.
Only a court was able to reinstate the journalist’s pass.
Many liberals supported Acosta and his work during Trump’s first term.
His ability to create viral moments with the president even led to Acosta receiving his very own CNN show.
Somewhat surprisingly, Acosta was recently let go from CNN — not too long after Trump’s inauguration.
Now, with Acosta nowhere on a major news channel to question Trump, Collins has faced the ire of many MAGA fans.
Many Trump fans have insinuated that the only reason Collins is in the White House press room is because she questions Trump similarly to how Acosta did —
Many Trump fans have insinuated that the only reason Collins is in the White House press room is because she questions Trump similarly to how Acosta did — and they don’t mean this as a compliment.
Other MAGA members had a real issue with her take on Trump’s mug shot hanging up near the Oval Office.
These loyalists slammed Collins and told her that she should focus on other issues, not Trump’s mug shot.
A Heated Moment Between Collins and Leavitt
Collins hasn’t only had tense moments with the president.
She also recently got into a rather heated argument with the White House Press Secretary, Karoline Leavitt.
This exchange came after Collins asked Leavitt questions about AP reporters being banned from the Oval Office and other official events.
Trump’s administration recently took the unprecedented move to ban the AP from certain events at the White House — and all because the news organization refused to use the phrase “Gulf of America.”
Instead, as an international publication, they are choosing to continue to use “Gulf of Mexico.”
Trump’s administration has fought back on their stance — and now, the AP has claimed that the White House is retaliating against their First Amendment right to free speech.
Collins inquired about this to Leavitt, asking, “Which White House official made the decision to bar the AP reporter from the Oval Office and the diplomatic reception room last night?”
Leavitt immediately responded.
“Well, first of all, let me just set the record straight,” Leavitt said.
“It is a privilege to cover this White House.
It’s a privilege to be the White House press secretary, and nobody has the right to go into the Oval Office and ask the President of the United States questions.
That’s an invitation that is given.”
Collins seemingly wasn’t satisfied with this answer, even after Leavitt claimed that an AP reporter was in the briefing room — they just weren’t called on to ask a question.
“’Isn’t it retaliatory in nature?” Collins asked.
“Is this setting a precedent that this white house will retaliate against reporters who don’t use the language that you guys believe?”
The two battled back and forth after this, with Collins questioning how this wasn’t a First Amendment issue.
Many MAGA loyalists had issue with Collins questioning Leavitt like this. Meanwhile, liberals encouraged the showdown.
