When a coffin broke up a wedding ceremony to honor
My wedding day was painstakingly planned down to the last detail to guarantee perfection. But my husband’s friends thought otherwise.
I looked at my soon-to-be husband, Jacob, as I made my way down the aisle. My heart was pounding with joy. He appeared calm and collected, which contrasts with me, who is a little ordered and a little authoritarian. I liked how he used our arguments to strengthen us.
As the ceremony began, everything seemed to be going according to plan. But right before I uttered my vows, I heard a sound. A bunch of people with a big, scary object came out from behind the building.
At first, I found it funny, but when I realized it was a coffin with a big red ribbon on it, I became concerned. I kept wondering if this was a terrible mistake or a cunning trick.
The visitors were stunned and said nothing. Jacob’s gaze expanded. My knees buckled and my heart pounded hard in my chest. Even Jacob didn’t appear to know what to do.
Derek smiled mischievously and stepped forward. Derek was the best man and knew Jacob. He opened the box and found a huge picture of Jacob in a frame with a ribbon around it.
When Jacob’s friends said, “Surprise!” and sprang out from behind the coffin, the crowd erupted in laughter and cheers. A laid-back attitude took the place of the anxiety.
At first, I was shocked and furious, but I soon realized how ridiculous the whole thing was. This was how Jacob’s friends said goodbye to their single lives. Jacob soon joined in on my uncontrollable laughter.
As we exchanged vows, the box evolved into a funny story about our wedding. I was reminded that there are many surprises in life and that you have to deal with them head-on.
He leaned near and murmured, “I love you.” His eyes shone brightly. “I love you too,” I answered with a big smile.
Like our relationship, our wedding day was imperfectly perfect, full of love, laughter, and surprises. As we danced into the night with our loved ones by our sides, I knew that this was only the start of an incredible journey we would take together.
